Cornman Farms Kids Camp for a Cause Day Camps
This summer we are offering THREE 3-day immersive experiences designed to bring awareness and resources to local nonprofits while teaching kids about vegetable gardening and cooking in a hands-on environment. Attend one or multiple! Each week will cover unique skills and support a different organization.
Sessions will run Monday-Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until noon.
Each 3-day session is $300.
Camp for a Cause is a new offering based on the success of our Cook for a Cause program. During each 3 day session, participants will prepare meals for local non-profits like the Ronald McDonald House and the Delonis center, under the care of the Cornman Farms team.
For us, a fundamental part of taking care of people is food. The way we see it, nothing brings a community together like good food, prepared with love. While learning about cooking and gardening as well, our kids camp will focus on creating meals to be delivered to local families in need.
Each camper will receive a custom Cornman Farms apron, recipes for the dishes made at camp and a starter plant to tend to at home. Sessions conclude with kids going home with the same components of the meals they’ve created so they can enjoy the fruits of their labor with their families as well as information about the non-profit partner of the week. Cornman Farms will deliver prepared meals to our non-profit partner at the end of camp.
Who is this designed for?
Tweens (ages 9-12) with an interest in gardening, cooking and giving back to the community! Activities will be indoors in our 1834 Farmhouse as well as outside around our 27 acres, mostly focusing on our willow garden area. Campers should be able to follow directions, be comfortable using kitchen and gardening equipment while supervised and be open to indoor and outdoor conditions, including rain and bugs.
Camp runs 9:00a.m. until noon each day.

What should kids bring?
A water bottle with their name on it and an easy to enjoy nut-free snack.
What should kids wear?
We recommend sunscreen and dressing in layers as we’ll be indoors and out (boots/umbrellas are welcome if there is rain in the forecast). Health code requires closed toed shoes and hair restrained.
What about masks?
Masks are now optional for employees and guests on property, regardless of vaccination status. Employees and guests can continue to wear masks if they would like. If Washtenaw County returns to High levels, masks will be required for all employees, regardless of vaccination status.
What about allergies?
No nuts will be used in any camp.
Vegetarians can be accommodated.
We will not be able to prepare vegan, dairy free or gluten free versions of the planned meals.
