A Tale of Two Kitchens: Sunday Roast Redefined
At Zingerman’s Cornman Farms, we believe the best meals bring people together—and few traditions do that better than the Sunday Roast Dinner. This time, Managing Partner and Executive Chef Kieron Hales is inviting a very special guest into the kitchen: Chef Christine Lau, a celebrated chef whose career has taken her from the fine-dining restaurants of New York to the vibrant food cultures of Asia.

Christine’s culinary journey is one of bold exploration and deep respect for tradition. Raised in Oakland, California by parents who emigrated from Hong Kong, she developed a love for food early on, cutting her teeth in the kitchens of San Francisco’s top restaurants before making her mark in New York. Over the years, she has honed a distinctive style that marries Japanese, Italian, and Asian flavors with seasonal, ingredient-driven cooking—earning her critical acclaim, including a James Beard nomination for Best New Restaurant.
For one night only, Chef Christine brings her unique approach to Chef Kieron’s favorite meal. Expect an elevated take on the classic Sunday Roast, where British tradition meets Christine’s signature creativity and flavors. This is a rare collaboration between two world-class chefs, blending heritage, technique, and a shared love of hospitality—set against the backdrop of our beautifully restored farm.

Menu is developing, but we know it will include:
Cock-a-Leekie Soup
The Sunday Roast Dinner always begins with soup, and Chef Christine’s take on Kieron’s Cock-a-Leekie recipe is a tribute to tradition with a touch of innovation. Featuring rich, farm-made chicken stock, fragrant herbs, and tender leeks, this dish stays true to its Scottish roots while embracing a new dimension of flavor. A delicate ground chicken, leek, and prune dumpling adds depth and texture, nodding to the soup’s original recipe while offering a modern twist.
